I believe that there are three sides to every story; there’s one side, there’s the opposite side and there’s the side that God only knows. After watching the Lifetime documentary, ‘Surviving R. Kelly,” it’s crystal clear to me that we have failed our black girls and black women. At first I was hesitant on watching the docu-series, but I ended up doing so. As a result of that, I found it appalling, shocking, confusing and grew even more concerned about the grim reality of today’s society. When it comes to subject matter such as this, it’s important that we use the power that we have in the creativity we possess. Whether it’s through my skills as an artist, writer or designer, I aim to consistently take full advantage of my talents to either inspire someone, spark positive conversations or help someone with the knowledge that I have.Continue reading “‘Surviving R. Everyone loves a bit of nostalgia from time to time. I think at this point, most of us are aware of a widely used acronym on social media called, “TBT,” which stands for Throwback Thursday. Throwback Thursday is the name of a weekly social media posting trend or popularized hashtag that people from all over the world use online—specifically on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or Tumblr, to share and look back fondly on some of their favorite memories—hence the “throwback” theme. With that being said, I want to share a proud moment of mine in which an article was written about me in the oldest Black newspaper in the country, The New York Amsterdam News.Continue reading “Ralph Gilmore: Father, Artist and ‘Mayor of Harlem’ (Circa 1/6/15)”
As I say goodbye to 2018, a year that has taught me so much through both pain and gratitude, I’m reflecting on this humbling moment in remembrance of family and close friends who’s physical presence are no longer among us. I desperately say to you all that we have to find a way to be swift to forgive, to love abundantly, pursue your passions relentlessly and to create bravely.Continue reading “Happy New Year 2019! First and foremost, I hope you all had a very merry Christmas and a happy holiday. I hope that as you read through my latest post, that you are found in the best of health, peace, prosperity and family fellowship. As many of you know, I’m a voracious movie devotee and avid comic book reader. Some folks are so quick to compare the success of Marvel/ Disney’s Cinematic Universe (MCU) to the DC Comics/ Warner Bros. Extended Universe (DCEU). I think it’s a bit unfair because Marvel was able to get a successful jump on their cinematic universe, and as I explained in an earlier post on the Justice League film, the movies of the DCEU have been overly scrutinized and dissected. Before I dive deeper into this review, I want to warn you of some minor spoilers ahead. As long as the waters are calm for you to navigate, please read on. Just a little Aquaman humor there.Continue reading “‘Aquaman’ Raises the DCEU From the Depths; Conquers Christmas Box Office”
The second trailer to Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel is here and Brie Larson aka Carol Danvers, lights up the Marvel Cinematic Universe unlike never before. During Monday night’s NFL game between the Washington Redskins and Super Bowl champions the Philadelphia Eagles, Disney-Marvel shared the second trailer for 2019’s Captain Marvel. The first trailer arrived in September, and has been viewed an incredible 46 million times on YouTube.

Hey good people! As you read through my latest post, I hope you’re all in the best of love, health and happiness. I can never expressed that enough. It’s been awhile since my last post. I’ve been experiencing some up and downs in life and just trying to make the best of any circumstances I’ve had to deal with this year. From time to time, life tends to throw you a curve ball and it’s basically up to you to not allow your emotions to get the best of you and to remain positive in any situation you are dealing with. I’m not ashamed to admit that I believe it’s fact that with God, all things are possible and there are no problems or struggles that are bigger than Him. Maybe that’s why humanity struggle with so many issues nowadays.Continue reading “Midterms 2018: A Chilling Reminder Of Why We Must Vote On Election Day”
This was tough for me to come up with a selected number of black prominent figures in the course of history, pioneers and ground breakers, who not only had a positive influence on the black community, but as well as the rest of the world. Even as an African-American sits in powerful positions at more than any other time during the history of our nation, we have to ask ourselves, are we still in a crisis?
We also have to acknowledge that many of our Black heroes have gone unrecognized for their contributions, in which their significance to society is now being rediscovered. Don’t view this post simply as a top ten list; instead, leave a comment below explaining if there’s any Black American on or off the list of photos I included in this post, in which you would have liked an opportunity to meet them, and why? Regardless of who you choose, my overall point is that there’s never been a more critical time for us to turn our full on attention onto leadership in our community and recognizing the value we have on each other’s lives.Continue reading “Black History Month: If You Could Meet Any Historical Black Figure Today, Who Would It Be?”
For now, I won’t get into the politics on why this animated film wasn’t more heavily promoted, but the trailer to this movie looks fantastic! The first fully Middle Eastern-funded and produced CGI-animation film, Bilal is inspired by the life of Hazrat Bilal bin Rabah, the Ethiopian slave and companion of the Prophet Muhammad “Peace Be Upon Him” (PBUH), whose valor was considered nothing short of legendary.Continue reading “Watch the Trailer to New Animated movie, ‘Bilal: A New Breed of Hero’ Inspired By True Events.”
Happy New Year everyone! 2017 was equally an incredible and trying year for me. Not just for the high moments, but more so for the low; the challenges, confusion, struggle, loss, fear, doubt and a slew of other emotions and obstacles that seemingly never ended.Continue reading “Happy New Year 2018: Renewal of Faith, Purpose and Resolve”
